Procedure

Add the rice and salt to a pot and stir continuously until the kettle whistles or the rice begins to brown, whichever occurs first. Add the water to the pan with care, stir, and cover with a lid. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for 20 minutes. Remove the dish from the heat, let it rest for 5 minutes, and then uncover it.

Put the rice in a square 8-inch glass baking dish. In a kettle or covered pot, bring the water, butter, and salt to a low boil. Once the water has reached a boil, pour it over the rice, mix to blend, and cover the dish with aluminum foil made of heavy-duty material. Bake for one hour on the center oven rack.
