It may cause skin lesions, rashes, itching, and swelling in some cases ( 13 ). Depending on where in the host’s body the parasitic larvae migrate, the infection can cause severe problems in a number of organs.

Consuming raw fish on a regular basis increases the risk of parasitic infections. The majority of fish-borne parasites that can infect humans are either uncommon or restricted to the tropics.
